Bergeron Out Indefinitely With Broken Foot

Tuesday afternoon brought news to Bruins fans that they did not want to hear, center Patrice Bergeron is going to miss some time with a broken foot.

Bergeron, having a career year this year, has been such a vital part of the Bruins success. He took a shot to the skate during the Edmonton game during the weekend which stung but continued to play through it.

Later that night, he was seen leaving the rink with a walking boot on which scared many Bruins fans. But on a night of back to back games he suited up against the Buffalo Sabres and gave it a go. Even though the results were not there suffering a 4-1 lose on home ice, Bergeron went to get a second opinion on his foot. And the results were not good once again.

In a season where people didnt think the Bruins would be this good at this point, and after trading for former Rangers goal scorer Rick Nash, the Bruins were all in. This injury does hurt the team, Bergeron such a core guy and fearless leader, he is one of the hardest working guys on the team. We remember when he played through the pierced lung, but I would rather see him take his time off now and get better for the playoffs. The Bruins have the depth to fill in for the assistant captain, but his absence will be missed. He gets re-evaluated in two weeks, so lets see if he can heal up fast and get back out there. The Bruins streaky at times this season and as of right now in a little bit of skid, they could surely benefit to get Bergeron back in the lineup soon.

Riley Nash will fill in for Bergeron a top the first line. Hopefully this does not effect Marchand and Pastrnak as for production. Bergeron was certainly the playmaker on that line and now Riley Nash has to step in and fill the void.
